What to Expect
We would be so pleased to have you visit us at Robinson Avenue Church of Christ! We want you to feel comfortable, but we know an unfamiliar place can be intimidating. So, here's an idea of what to expect when you come to visit:
A Warm Welcome. We have been told by many visiting our services that we are a friendly group with a warm welcome to visitors. Friendly greeters will welcome you at our doors and would be pleased to answer any of your questions. Our members will come and introduce themselves to you and welcome you here at our services. We wish to express our appreciation to you for coming.
Bible classes are offered for all, ages 2 months and up at 9:30 AM. This gives each of us an opportunity to study the Bible with others of our age group.
Our worship (10:30 AM) is designed to be a period of praise, glory and honor to God while being joyful and friendly to participants.
The Singing will be "Acapella" (without instrumental accompaniment). The literal meaning of that word is "in the style of the church" as that is the way the New Testament church sang in worship.
The Lord's Supper will be included in the worship every Sunday. Again, the reason for this is our desire to follow the New Testament example. You may choose to participate or simply pass the communion trays to the next person.
The Offering. If you visit on a Sunday morning, containers will be passed around to the collect the weekly financial offering. As our guest, you are not expected to make a donation or offering. Feel perfectly comfortable in just passing the collection down the row.
Prayers. There will be several prayers during the service. A "shepherd's prayer" will be offered for those who have specific needs and requests.
Kid's Church. Just before the Sermon time an announcement will be made that gives children from age 3 through Kindergarten the opportunity to leave the Auditorium to attend an age appropriate worship period. Also, during worship, an attended nursery is available for ages 2 months through 23 months. Parents are asked to pick up their children immediately following worship.
Sermon. Our preacher, Keith Kilmer, will bring a message from the Bible designed to bring encouraging and comforting instruction from God's Word.
